Keith Surridge first joined the club (then the Capalaba Australian Football Club) in 1986 as a sole parent with four children, of whom two sons played Australian Football. He immediately volunteered to become involved, assisting with club fundraising by selling raffle tickets.

In 1989, Keith joined the Football Committee, becoming heavily involved in the football operations of the club, in particular the Premiership-winning U17 team in 1990, while continuing with his fundraising efforts.

In 1990, a clubhouse was built and Keith became involved in the day-to-day cleaning and general maintenance, as well as on-going improvements, of the new building. Keith’s football administration moved on to the Senior Football Club, as well as joining the Committee of the newly named Alexandra Hills Australian Football and Recreation Club Inc.

During the 1990s Keith’s involvement included:

Manager of the Senior Football team.
Chairman, Alexandra Hills Australian Football Club.
Vice-President, Alexandra Hills Sporting Club Inc (formerly
Alexandra Hills Australian Football and Recreation Club Inc).
Licensee, Alexandra Hills Sporting Club Inc.
Community Service Supervisor, Cleveland Community Corrections Office.

Keith was awarded a Life Membership of the Alexandra Hills Sporting Club Inc in 1996. In 2000, extensive renovations to the Clubhouse were completed and in further recognition of his dedication, a section of the bar was named “The Keith Surridge Bar”.

Keith continued his volunteer work for the Alexandra Hills Sporting Club Inc and his on-going role as Community Service Supervisor for the Cleveland Community Corrections Office, one he maintained for over 10 years.

Sadly, Keith passed away during the 2020 football season.  Keith is greatly missed by all his many friends at Alexandra Hills AFC.
